Hops are a vigorous vine growing to 6m high, with the leaves resembling berry leaves. Hop flowers are used to produce beer, with different varieties producing different qualities in the brewing process.

Hops can and are also used in herbal medicine, acting as a mild relaxant, assisting with digestion and help to ease pain, among other things.

We currently grow the following varieties of hops:

Cascade - High-yielding, floral American aroma type. The aroma is of medium strength and very distinct, flowery and citrusy with a grapefruit note. Well-balanced bittering qualities with low alpha acids.  Mid-season maturity.

Chinook - Good yielding, high alpha hop. Mid to late season maturity with good storage ability, of medium intensity, spicy, piney, distinctive grapefruit.

Goldings - Traditional English aroma, mid to high yielding variety. Floral and fragrant.

Fuggles - A low to moderate yielding aroma variety. Early to mid-season maturity. Smooth almost sweet, delicate, slightly spicy.

Pearle - An early maturity dual purpose hop with excellent storage ability. A spicy, leathery, slightly floral and fruity bittering hop.

Hallertauer - Low yielding German variety with a refined, sweet aroma and good storage ability. Medium to late  maturity.

Saaz - Low yielding, low vigor variety renowned for its high quality aroma. Originally from the Czech Republic, and is a traditional noble hop with a delicate earthy spiciness.
